Flugbestattung

Above the clouds

"Above the clouds, there must be boundless freedom", Reinhard Mey already sang. We have also experienced it like that when the small plane takes to the skies and releases a deceased person into freedom over the Alps. It is a liberating feeling to be able to let go like that, don't you agree?

How does such a flight burial actually work? The relatives inform us about the geographical wishes and the pilot clarifies the possibilities. The biggest adversary, however, is the weather, as safety is a top priority and the pilot always has the power to decide. Once the date and take-off time have been defined and the weather forecast is correct, the pilot and the relatives take off into the air and fly towards the destination, where the ashes are handed over to nature by means of a special device, paired with rose petals, where liberty is probably endless.
