Hindu farewell on the river

Amal, whose name means "hope", died young in a car accident. His Hindu religion demands that his ashes be buried in a river.

We organised everything for the bereaved family and were able to offer and carry out a ritual river burial on the Rhine. The vote of thanks confirmed our ability to organise religious or secular funerals to the full satisfaction of the relatives.

We wish the widow and the whole family much strength in this difficult time. May Amal be an example that foreign cultures in liberal Switzerland can find solutions for their religious concerns.
